Purpose and Typical Duties
The Rappahannock Juvenile Center operates under the direction of the Rappahannock Juvenile Detention Commission in accordance with Section 16.1-315 of the Code of Virginia. The primary mission of the Center is to provide secure detention for youths found to be in need of such placement by a court within the participating jurisdictions.
Within this primary mission, the Center is obligated to provide a safe and secure environment that is separated by sight and sound from any adult facilities and programs co-located on the same or adjacent properties. It is to be staffed by persons qualified to provide the resident’s basic needs and support while fostering positive attitudes and behavior. In addition, compliance with standards of the licensing agency must be met as required by the Department of Juvenile Justice and the Code of Virginia.

Meeting Time and Place
Meetings are held the 4th Monday, every other month beginning with January at 12:00p.m at the Rappahannock Juvenile Center, 275 Wyche Rd, Stafford, VA 22554.
Member Qualification
A representative of Madison County.
