Board of Zoning Appeals

Purpose and Typical Duties

The Board of Zoning Appeals considers requests for variances and appeals of decisions made by the Zoning Administrator.

Term Limitations

There are no limits on the number of terms a member may serve.

Number of Members

Five (5) members appointed by the Circuit Court. Members of the Board of Zoning Appeals can not hold other public office (appointed or elected) in Madison County except that one (1) member may be a member of Madison County's Planning Commission.

Meeting Time and Place

Meetings are held as needed and scheduled for the third Tuesday of each month beginning at 7 p.m., specific meeting times will be advertised on this website and in the Madison Eagle. Meetings are held in Madison County Administrative Auditorium (414 N. Main Street; Madison VA 22727).
