The Application or Petition confirming the appointment of church trustees or trustees for other fraternal organizations by the court (§57-8), must be accompanied by minutes of the meeting in which the trustees were elected.
The minutes must be provided on Church letterhead and should include
- New Appointments
- New retirees or death of trustees
- Any changes in the organization
The filing fee is $27 and must be paid by cash, check, money order, or credit card (Mastercard, Visa, and Discover are accepted - there will be a 4% convenience fee assessed on each transaction). Checks should be made payable to the Clerk of the Circuit Court. Filings may be submitted in person or by mail.
Upon filing the Petition for Appointment or Substitution of Church Trustees, an Order will be submitted to the Judge for entry. No hearing is required for the appointment/substitution of church trustees. If the Judge grants the Petition, you will receive a certified copy of the final order in the mail.
