Hazard mitigation planning is the process by which threats to Madison County are identified, the likelihood of impacts determined, goals to mitigate those threats are developed and appropriate strategies to eliminate or reduce impacts are determined, prioritized, and implemented. A variety of local programs, ordinances, and capabilities are considered. An approved all-hazard mitigation plan will qualify the County for federal support for pre-and post-disaster hazard mitigation projects.
The Hazard Mitigation Plan focuses on natural disasters that could impact Madison County, its residents, and business operators.
