Madison County Emergency Communications Receives APCO Agency Training Program Accreditation
Madison, Virginia – Madison County Emergency Communications has received Agency Training Program Accreditation, a Project 33® Initiative, from the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International.
To obtain accreditation, Madison County Emergency Communications submitted its training curriculum to APCO International, who conducted a review of the materials and documents provided. The review evaluated the training curriculum to ensure it provides trainees with the required content and documents the demonstration of decision and psychomotor skills cited within the standard.
Public safety agencies use the APCO International Agency Training Program Accreditation as a formal mechanism to ensure their training programs meet APCO American National Standards (ANS). Initial and continuing training for public safety telecommunicators is important as they provide essential services to the public in an expanding and rapidly changing environment.
“Achieving accreditation affirms our commitment to accountability, continuous improvement, and public trust. Our community deserves a training program that meets the highest standards, and we are proud to deliver that.” -Jennifer Shifflett, Assistant Director
