History of the Madison County Seal
The seal of Madison County was designed by Dena Willcox Dean in 1974 as a project of the American Revolution Bicentennial Commission. The seal portrays the historic image of hte County, showing the courthouse with mountains and trees in the background. The fifteen stars represent the number of states in the United States in 1792, the year Madison County was formed. The original seal artwork is on display at the Kemper Residence museum (412 N. Main Street in Madison, VA).
