Voter Registrar

The General Registrar operates under the direction and supervision of the Madison County Electoral Board and implements the election laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide fair and equal access to voter registration and voting for all eligible citizens of Madison County. Voting is a fundamental right of every citizen. The Madison County Office of Voter Registration is committed to the faithful execution of the duties and responsibilities outlined by the Virginia State Board of Elections and by state and federal law in the General Registrar (PDF). Passed by the U.S. Congress in 1993, the National Voter Registration Act and the Help America Vote Act are important pieces of legislation that highlight our role and our goals:

  • Increase the number of eligible citizens who register to vote.
  • Enhance the participation of eligible citizens as voters in elections.
  • Administer elections and protect the integrity of the electoral process.
  • Ensure that accurate and current voter registration rolls are maintained.

Early Voting Begins September 22

Early voting for the November 7, 2023 election begins on September 22!  Voters can cast their ballot at the Registrar Office Monday thru Friday 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM and on Saturday October 28 and Saturday November 4 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
