The Virginia Freedom of Information Act requires minutes to be kept by public bodies for all public meetings. Minutes include, but are not necessarily limited to: (i) the date, time and location of the public meeting; (ii) identification of the members recorded as present and absent; and (iii) a summary of the discussion of the public body on matters proposed, deliberated or decided, and a record of any votes taken. Minutes are not intended as a verbatim transcript of matters spoken at a public meeting. The official minutes of the Board of Supervisors are minutes that have been approved by affirmative vote of the Board.
On this web site, we offer Board of Supervisors’ minutes for your convenience. In naming each set of minutes, we have used the following conventions:
- The first number identifies the meeting by number, in chronological order beginning with the first meeting in January each year.
- The next six digits give the date of the meeting (mm.dd.yy)
- Three letters at the end indicate the type of meeting:
- jnt = the regular joint Board & Planning Commission meeting
- reg = the regular, monthly Board meeting
- wrk = the regular, monthly Board workshop meeting
- oth = another type of meeting (i.e., special, emergency, etc.)
Minutes are not required to be taken at meetings or deliberations of study commissions or study committees, or any other committees or subcommittees appointed by the Board, unless the membership of the commission or committee includes a majority of the Board. | | The minutes are formatted as .pdf so documents require Adobe Acrobat Reader to view.
